“Habakkukis the eight of the Minor Prophets. Hisfamily, birth place and era are unfamiliar (Hab. 1:1; 3:1). Although he is not much more well-known to us but he was a prophet of Judah. He belongs to the tribe of Levi. He was a temple singers (Hab. 3:19). He preached the word of the God in 605-597 B.C., when the Babylonian threat had become obvious. There are three chapters in the book of Habakkuk. The first chapter is about vision of Habakkuk. God punished the evildoers in the second chapter and third chapter is about prayer of prophet Habakkuk.”[1]
Message: “He focused on the social injustice in Judah. Heannounced its destruction at the hands of Babylonians. The great message of Habakkuk is God will not allow evil to continue. We see a powerful picture of God as a divine warrior taking vengeance on evildoers (Hab 2:5-17).God tells him ‘Behold, he whose soul is not upright in him shall not succeed but the righteous shall live by his faith’ (Hab2:4). He proclaims woes on the arrogant man who shall not abide. Chapter third is a prayer of praise by Habakkuk ending in a real statement of faith. God’s people will be delivered by their faith. God’s people must trust him and believe his promises although the evildoers that surroundsthem. This statement Paul makes more clearly that the upright live by faith (Rom 1:17; Gal 3:11; cf., Heb 10:38).God will deliver his people as a great divine warrior and only those who have faith; they will be saved. Habakkuk concludes with rejoicing God whatever the circumstances.”[2]
